Steel Honing Services

The honing process is used to achieve a precise hole size and an improved surface finish. A honing machine includes fine grain abrasive stones which are attached to an expandable mandrel. The mandrel is then slowly rotated and oscillated inside the bore with an oil lubrication until the desired geometry is obtained. Our steel honing services provides a smoother finish and it can improve the geometric form of the bore. This improved shape results in a higher precision component.

Heat Treat Services

Cromdane Steel, Inc. works very closely with our Heat Treat Partners to ensure our products meet both Customer, Industry specifications and standards. Cromdane Steel’s ability to properly select appropriate material and chemistry allow our heat treater’s to achieve and improve the mechanicals and strength characteristic of our customers exact material specifications.

Steel Rough Machining Services

We provide steel rough machining services for closed die steel forgings to near net shapes. This process reduces the amount of time required to machine forged stock into a finished product.

Rough machining changes steel forging blanks into what is needed by the customer. The process of closed die forging increases the strength, soundness and hardness of stock and improves the metal’s mechanical properties.

In addition to these finishing processes, Cromdane Steel, Inc. offers a variety of additional value-added services.

  • Material Sourcing
  • Finish Machining
  • Non-destructive testing

  • Heat Treating
  • Coating
  • Boring
