Forged Carbon Steel Bar
Carbon Steel (forging materials)
Cromdane Steel Inc. supplies carbon steel forgings for customers in a variety of industries. We work with our customers to provide the exact carbon steel forged part they need to meet their requirements and specifications such as a medium carbon steel forging.
Carbon Steel Forgings Characteristics
Carbon steel is a popular material for many forged applications. Carbon steel forgings are inexpensive and can be heat-treated to improve strength, ductility and machinability.
Essential to any carbon steel is carbon and manganese. As the carbon content of the steel is increased, higher hardness and strength can be attained. Four grades of carbon steel include:
· Low carbon steel
· Medium carbon steel
· High carbon steel
· Very high carbon steel
These grades of carbon steel depend on the amount of carbon present in the steel.

Benefits of carbon steel forgings:
- Always used in closed die forging process due to good strength and machinability
- Low material cost
- Hammering carbon steel during the forging process eliminates most of the microscopic crystalline flaws such as air bubbles and fissures.
The structural integrity of carbon steel forgings makes them stronger and better-suited to applications that involve high pressures and temperatures. Low, high, and medium carbon steel forgings are used in a wide variety of products and applications in many industries.
